If he could run the ball like Elway, he might be close, but he's a behind the line of scrimmage guy. Good, yes, but Elway was the best with a gun arm and the size and ability to run the ball.

No doubt about it: he is a great player.
I am not going to call him the best ever (not even sure he is the best currently with Brady and Brees around), but he has had a great career.
