Nom Nom truck in NOLA

Post by hungryone »

L.A.'s Nom Nom Truck, a mobile food wagon featuring bahn mi & vietnamese tacos, will be in New Orleans this weekend only....find 'em in the parking lot at Pinkberry, on Magazine St across from Whole Foods. They're in town filming some sort of show for Food Network, so you might see a camera crew, too. $1 off menu items with a Pinkberry receipt....

Attention, bahn-mi seekers (and Food Network camera followers): the Nom Nom truck's schedule has changed a bit. Find them at Pinkberry today from 3-8 pm, tonight at the Spotted Cat from 10pm to 1am, and again at Pinkberry tomorrow afternoon from 3-8 pm.

I went by today. Tried the pork banh mi and the chicken taco. Both were yummy. Grand total: $10. The lady taking and handing out orders was so nice, very sweet personality.

WTF is pinkberry?

I enjoyed the banh mi but 8 bucks for a sandwich out of a food truck is ridiculous. JAG ate the taco before I could get a bite.

Pinkberry is an L.A.-based fro-yo chain with a serious cult following.

Pure yogurt, on Hampson, also offers the same sort of nouveau, fruit-topped, tart froyo, as does Menchies in Baton Rouge.

Banh mi are 12", so basically twice as big as the typical ones locally http://nomnomtruck.com/menu/

Yet another small schedule change: Nom Nom Truck won't be at Pinkberry until 6 pm today...ah, the vagaries of TV production schedules.

Doh! You missed a good lemongrass tofu banh mi.

I'd bet their flakiness has something to do with the challenge/competition. Nom Nom normally posts their whereabouts on Twitter (nomnomtruck), but there were no updates or mentions of N.O. at all -- Food Network must've kiboshed updates to keep the competition fair? That might also explain why the other food trucks in town didn't get any press.
