That is when we stock up on our cheeses as well. Shipping costs in summer are outrageous.

Low-N-Slow wrote:Whole Foods sells an aged Gouda called Robusto (by Uniekass) that's very nice. Goes well with a variety of things, and even pairs nicely with dry whites or fruity Zins or Shiraz. Robust flavor and crunchy crystals. Best served cut up into 3/8" cubes, like they do for sampling at WF. And, especially considering it's like $15/lb, the little morsels make it last a bit longer.

Went to WF today, didn't see any Robusto where it was last time. Asked, and was led to another case, but there was none already cut. Cheese guy took the round (half-round, actually) to go cut me a wedge, but I found some before he did. Also picked up some Reserve Gouda, also from Uniekass. Reminiscent of the Robusto, a bit creamier mouthfeel, but still some crystalization. Only $1 cheaper per pound than the Robusto. Noticed they have started cutting the wheels in half horizontally before slicing into wedges, probably to cut down on the $17-18/lb. sticker shock a 1/2" thick wedge from a full round would probably cause.

Heading to Minnesota for the State Fair Friday. I will be at Surdyk's soon after arriving to see what is in season. I thought that I was going to have to wait a few more weeks, but that is not the case. Surdyk's carries about 50 different chocolates too.

Worldwide chocolates always has 10% off sales during the summer to help defray the costs of cold pack shipping. The current sale code is "summer10".
